Apreciado representante de la sociedad civil:

La doctora Irene Klinger, Directora del Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales, y el Sr. David Morris, Director de la Secretaría de Cumbres de las Américas, tienen el agrado de informar que la Secretaría General de la Organización de los Estados Americanos, teniendo en consideración la Orden Ejecutiva No. 08-01 Rev. 1, ha decidido que el proceso de registro y la participación de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil en las actividades de la Organización serán coordinadas por el Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales, mientras que la Secretaría de Cumbres de las Américas estará a cargo de facilitar las actividades y participación de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil en el marco del Proceso de Cumbres de las Américas.

Tal decisión responde a una estrategia para dotar de mayor eficiencia al proceso de registro de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil en la Organización y optimizar la canalización de las recomendaciones emanadas de los foros y actividades organizados por la OEA en todo el hemisferio en las cuales la sociedad civil participa.

Dear civil society representative,

Dr. Irene Klinger, Director of the Department of International Affairs, and Mr. David Morris, Director of the Summits of the Americas Secretary, wish to inform you that the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States, taking into consideration Executive Order No. 08-01 Rev.1, has decided that the registration process and the participation of civil society organizations in the activities of the Organization shall be coordinated by the Department of International Affairs, while the Summits of the Americas Secretariat will be in charge of facilitating the activities and participation of civil society organizations in the framework of the Process of the Summits of the Americas.

This decision results from a strategy to increase efficiency in the registration process of civil society organizations in the Organization and to optimize the channeling of recommendations which emanate from the forums and activities organized by the OAS throughout the hemisphere in which civil society participates.
